Rolling Stones 50th Anniversary Tour

In a recent article in Rolling Stone magazine, RS reported that a much anticipated Rolling Stones 50th anniversary tour expected this year has been pushed back to 2013. Rolling Stone reports:

“They don’t want to do a full tour,” he says. “They don’t want to travel, and there are concerns about Keith’s health.” A more likely scenario would see the band camping out for multinight runs in arenas, similar to Prince’s recent stands in New York and Los Angeles. “For example, they’d do 10 nights at MSG, 10 nights at Staples, 10 nights at London’s O2 arena,” the source adds.

The Stones are already considering offers: The band asked for proposals from promoters AEG, Live Nation and longtime Stones promoter Michael Cohl. “We’re drilling down on this new proposal,” says the source.

If the Stones are going to camp out in a west coast city for numerous arena dates let me be the first to suggest the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. I hope the execs over at MGM are on top of this. This would bring huge numbers of people, that have discretionary money to spend, to Las Vegas and to their hotel. It’s not like the Stones are unfamiliar with the place. They have played shows at MGM on the following dates:

Nov 11, 2006
March 4, 2006
Nov 18, 2005
Feb 8,2003
Nov 30, 2002
April 16, 1999
Nov 22, 1997
Oct 14-15, 1994

Not to mention 3 shows at the Joint in the Hard Rock on Nov 16 and 29, 2002 and Feb 15, 1998. The Stones and MGM have a long and succesful working relationship since 1994, the year MGM opened. This arena is slightly smaller than most of the arenas the Stones have played and gives the fan a better experience. At the 2005 show Keith Richards commented that he really liked this room. It’s good for the fans, the Stones like the room, and it’s big money for MGM. Bring the Stones to Las Vegas in 2013!

Vince Neil Banned from Palms Hotel

Vince Neil is a resident of Las Vegas and from time to time he ends in the local news. This time its because he has been banned from the Palms Hotel for a disagreement in the Little Buddha restaurant.  The Palms tweeted the following in response to tweets made by Neil:

“Mr. Neil has recently made negative comments about Palms on Twitter, however, he fails to mention his own actions.. As a result of Mr. Neil’s inappropriate behavior, he was asked to leave a restaurant at Palms. Mr. Neil has also since called Palms personnel threatening negative publicity. While we believe this is unfortunate, and would prefer that Mr. Neil put his efforts toward apologizing for his conduct, such threats will have no effect on Palms’ policies or its decision in this matter. We at Palms take customer service very seriously, but we also take the well being of our team members just as seriously. We cannot and will not allow our guests, no matter who they are, to mistreat our team members. As a result of his actions, Mr. Neil is no longer welcome at Palms. We cannot and will not allow our guests, no matter who they are, to mistreat our team members.”

In a side note, Neil’s new strip club in Las Vegas, called Vince Neil’s Girls Girls Girls will have its grand opening on April 13. The club will feature live Rock music and won’t be playing any of that hip hop/rap crap you hear in other clubs.
